Come to Sand Island on October 15, 16, & 17, 2021!

Yup, it’s that time again ghouls and buoys. Time for the annual Columbia River Halloween Cruise on Sand Island at St. Helen’s, Oregon . This year the cruise will take place on October 15, 16 & 17. On Friday, October 15, as boats arrive, please be prepared to stern tie to make room for more boats, per the Dock Master request.

On Saturday, there will be best costume contest (kids, adults, and pets), best decorated boats, and best appetizers. Free clam chowder will be on the dock at 6 pm hosted by the Kreger famly. Join the fun by bringing side dish or dessert to share. And of course, there will be Trick or Treating on the docks. Add to all of this the camaraderie inherent in the boating community, and participants are sure to have a great weekend of mirth and merriment.

The Halloween Cruise is a non-sponsored event. It doesn’t matter what club you belong to, or whether you belong to one at all. Come to Sand Island across from St. Helen’s on October 15, 16, & 17, and you’re sure to find friends and fun all weekend long. Even when it rains, many boats show up and tons of people have boat loads of funs.

Docking assistance will continue to be available on VHF channel 72 until 2 PM Saturday afternoon.This is done by those who arrive a little early so that they may be there to help you get your boat safely on the dock. For the last couple of years, the members of the St. Helens Yacht Club have been there for all of us. But they too are there for the festivities, so when the action starts on Saturday, they'll be up participating in and enjoying the various contests. So please plan your arrival before 2 PM on Saturday.

Held on beautiful Sand Island, off from the wonderful city of St. Helens, Oregon, the annual Halloween Cruise has been a decades long staple of the lower Columbia River boating community. What began as a simple get together of some friends, the Halloween Cruise has morphed into a full scale destination cruise for the whole family.

Activities include costume contests for all age groups (including pets), pumpkin carving contests (show your inner creativity), appetizer contests (find out how can gross and wonderful can work together), as well as trick-or-treating (for kids and adults). Other contests have been thought up and executed to the great delight of all. The only limit to the fun available is the limit of your imagination. Got an idea?
